Volunteers at the Palmerton Hospital were accorded special recognition during the meeting of the Palmerton Hospital Auxiliary held in conjunction with National Volunteers Week.

Peter L. Kern, hospital president, thanked the volunteers for their contributions, saying if translated into financial terms it would represent a $100,000 gift to the hospital.

Auxiliary President Joyce White, and Doris Harris, director of volunteers, presented the awards.

The top award was a 6,000-hour pin presented to Ethel Swietzer while Charles B. George, Ann Louise Mertz and Mary Jane Reimert received 5,000-hour pins.
