Teen charged with knife at LV school

A Lehigh County teen was charged with bringing a weapon to school and brandishing it.

State police at Fogelsville said the incident occurred at 12:52 p.m. Monday at the Lower Macungie Middle School. Police learned that a 14-year-old female student brandished a pocket knife to another student. The teen pressed the knife against another student’s chest as a joke.

The student was immediately reported to the principal who then called state police. The student was later released to the custody of her mother.

The student has been suspended and the district attorney’s office approved a charge of weapon on school property be filed against the girl in juvenile court. There is no threat to any students or faculty at the school, troopers said.
