Janet Santore Garchinsky, a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, was granted a Doctor of Education from Slippery Rock University on April 8, 2022. Dr. Garchinsky received a M.Ed. from The Johns Hopkins University, a B.Ed. from Millersville University, and an A.A.Ed. from Lehigh Carbon Community College. She is a learning facilitator at the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center.

Dr. Garchinsky’s dissertation is titled “Perceptions and Pragmatics of Therapy Dogs in Schools.” She lives in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Christopher, and children, Caroline, Maria and Charlton. Dr. Garchinsky is the daughter of Christine and the late James Santore of Tamaqua.
