- St. Jerome’s of Tamaqua and Bishop Neumann of Palmerton are honored by the Panther Valley Catholic Youth Organization as varsity and junior varsity champions in league play. Thom Tkach, league president, presents the varsity championship trophy to John Angelo, coach of the undefeated Jerries (14-0), and the JV trophy to Terry Balliet, who pilots the St. John Neumann contingent. Other officers of the loop include Emmett McCall, secretary, and Leonard Mikulski, treasurer.
