Police and emergency responders are on the scene of an overturned tractor-trailer at the intersection of Routes 309 and 54 in Rush Township. The unnamed driver, who apparently escaped injury, told those at the scene he felt the load shifting as he negotiated the busy Five Points intersection. The truck was carrying a full load of what appears to be bagged and boxed garbage from municipal collections.
The debris was dumped partially on the roadway and partially onto the lawn of Hometown McDonald's.
In addition, a small amount of gasoline was seen leaking from the truck.
Local fire police have been summoned to direct traffic as clean up is expected to take considerable time.
More details as they become available.
