Crews battle blaze in Nesquehoning

Several homes were consumed by fire at 137 W. Catawissa St. in Nesquehoning on Monday. Power was cut to parts of the west end of town all the way through the 300 blocks because of the fire.

According to reports, at least four families are affected. '

Panther Valley Elementary posted that some of the residents are students at the school.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.

Meed’s Church is also coordinating efforts, accepting donations of clothes for children and baby items.

Needed are clothes for boys sizes 7-8 and 10-12 as well as a newborn boy, 6-9 month girl and size 3 diapers Woman’s size large and size 10 shoes men’s size 9.5 and 12 shoes and boys size 2 are needed.
