– One swing of the bat was all it took from Palmerton’s Mel Scherer to turn a 1-1 deadlock into a convincing lead for the Bombers in what ended up being a 5-1 win over Pleasant Valley. Scherer comes through with probably the biggest hit of her softball career when, with two runners on base and two outs in the ninth inning, she slugs a three-run liner over the head of the Bears’ left fielder that clears the bases. The win gives Palmerton a 5-0 record in Centennial League play.
