A 55-year-old Germansville man is the victim of a theft by deception case in which someone stole his identity and collected unemployment compensation benefits.

State police at the Bethlehem barracks said the man’s UC benefits account was compromised by unknown persons. After contacting the Department of Labor, the victim was advised the thief was collecting his benefits from September 2021, through January 2022.

Police said the victim filed a fraud report with the unemployment office and was advised to contact the state Department of Treasury.
