‘The Heroes Tree’ to be planted in S. Hill
Summit Hill Borough Council was informed Tuesday that a tree, with a plaque next to it labeling it as “The Heroes Tree,” is being planted in Ludlow Park by the Carbon County Navy Ship Club 260.
Robert Siesputowski, longtime member of the club, was given permission to have his organization host a dedication of the tree and sign on May 15 at 1 p.m.
In past months, the council was asked to provide the tree but declined because all tree matters are handled by the borough’s Shade Tree Commission.
Kira Steber, borough secretary-treasurer, said a sponsor has purchased the tree and the Navy Club was granted permission by the Shade Tree Commission to have it placed in Ludlow Park.
Siesputowski said The Heroes Tree is to bring recognition to all military veterans, first responders and anyone who provided care during the pandemic, not just Carbon County residents.
