The City of Hazleton has been named as an All-American City, having been one of 11 municipalities selected from a field of over 100 from across the nation for the award given each year to citizens who have made outstanding progress in solving community problems.

The selection was announced by the National Municipal League and Look magazine, co-sponsors of the program.

Hazleton’s success was based on achievements of its industrial development program, highway construction, creation of a community park and community betterment projects, such as home improvements, educational development, fine arts activities and the new YM-YWCA.
