Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 31 with 29 members in attendance. The meeting was opened with the reading “God Made This Day.”
The group meets every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. Palm Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening service at 6:30 p.m.
Activities for the week include: Lenten service on Holy Thursday at Congregational Free Church of Christ, McKeansburg with hymn sing at 7:15 p.m. and service at 7:30 p.m.; Good Friday service at Zion United Methodist Church, New Ringgold at 1:30 p.m.; Easter Sunrise service at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle at 6:15 a.m.
Rummage sale
St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, will hold a spring rummage sale on Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. No reasonable offers refused.
Cash bingo
The Tamaqua Rotary Club and Business & Professional Women are joining together to raise money to benefit the Tamaqua Area. A cash bingo will be held on April 24 at the Hometown Fire House. Sponsors for each game in the amounts of $25, $50, or $100 would be greatly appreciated. Donations are needed by April 15. With your support, help can be provided to scholarships for graduating seniors, the United Way, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Tamaqua Community Arts and the Tamaqua Library. Contact Sue Deesing at 570-668-5730 and any Rotary or BPW member for tickets. Doors open at noon; event begins at 1 p.m.
Andreas VFW
Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet on April 13 at 7 p.m. at the West Penn Annex. Meeting will consist of the election of officers and discussion of upcoming 2022 events.
A breakfast will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Mason Jar for members and one guest. New qualified members can call 570-386-3224 to join.
American Primitive
Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. The service is available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua. There will be no Sunday school until further notice. Hope in the Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St.
