Midweek Lenten worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins today at 7 p.m. Tonight’s theme is “Broken for You.” The worship service starts with Holden Evening Prayer, then Bible readings about the ministry of Jesus and video clips to enhance the readings. This is the final midweek worship of the series.

Palm Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Palm fronds will be distributed. Holy Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask over the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. Coffeehouse fellowship follows at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.

Sunday Church School classes begins at 10:45 a.m. for students ages 3 through sixth grade. Weather permitting, the students and staff will parade around the block waving the palm fronds. Seasonal activities follow at the church. In addition, catechetical classes for students in seventh and eighth grades take place at this time. Classes will not meet April 17.

Holy Week worship: April 14 Maundy Thursday with Holy Communion begins at 7 p.m. Fifth-grade students who have completed instructional learning sessions from Pastor Moore will receive their First Holy Communion at this time. Good Friday Tenebrae worship begins at 7 p.m.

Trinity Youth Group for students grades 7-12 will not meet April 10 and 17. Sessions resume at 5 p.m. April 24.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism or seek membership at Trinity, please contact the church office to register for instruction sessions for May. Neither session will meet in April.

In honor of Earth Day, April 22 observance is Blessing of the Animals and other cherished items, 5:30-6 p.m. Vicar Sarah Moore will offer a blessing to your pet and other meaningful items such as medals, crosses, rings, photos or ashes of your deceased pet. Please drive along the Iron Street entrance of the church and remain in your vehicle.
