State police at Lehighton

State police at Lehighton reported on the following incidents investigated by troopers.

• On March 30 at 7:34 p.m. a suspicious vehicle was observed in the general area of Hemlock Road in Eldred Township, Monroe County. When contacted by witnesses and neighbors, the vehicle in question fled the scene into a nearby wooded area. Two men got out of the vehicle and ran from the area.

After a further investigation it was determined that the vehicle contained probable stolen mail, documentation and possibly multiple other stolen items.

The investigation is continuing.

• On March 17 at 1:14 a.m. troopers stopped a 2010 Kia Sportage along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive West at Oak Grove Drive, in Mahoning Township, Carbon County. The driver, a 58-year-old woman from Lehighton, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be under the influence of controlled substances. A further investigation revealed the driver was also in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

She was taken into custody and transported for a blood test. Charges are pending test results.
