State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two-vehicle crash along Route 895 at Bowmanstown, Carbon County, at 3:14 p.m. on March 23.

Troopers said Brian G. Canto, 26, of Bowmanstown, driving a 2013 Toyota Rav4, and Edward Strohl, 67, of Palmerton, driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, were both eastbound with Strohl in front of Canto. Both stopped at a posted stop sign and were attempting to turn right onto 895 eastbound. Canto assumed it was safe to travel eastbound and accelerated from his stopped position and failed to see Strohl stopped. The front of Canto’s vehicle struck the rear of Strohl’s. Strohl was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, troopers noted. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Canto was cited for following too closely.
