Minersville inmate charged with possessing drug

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Torrance Gamble, 49, an inmate at Federal Corrections Institution Schuylkill in Minersville was charged in a criminal information with possession of a narcotic drug.

Gamble is charged with possessing buprenorphine, also known as Suboxone, a narcotic controlled substance on Dec. 1, 2021. Federal inmates are not permitted to possess narcotics.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean A. Camoni is prosecuting the case.

If convicted, the maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is 20 years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.

A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the federal sentencing guidelines.
