A large quantity of cash and illegal substances were found during a search of a Schuylkill County residence and a county man was jail as a result.

State police vice unit in Reading served a search warrant on the 1400 block of W. Market St., Pottsville, on March 17 at 4:50 p.m. Pottsville police assisted troopers.

Found in the home was in excess of $165,000 in cash, along with the following items: about 700 baggies of suspected heroin/fentanyl with an estimated street value of $7,000; about three pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $9,000; a stolen gun; about 70 THC oil cartridges; and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Jose Rivers-Hernandez, 31, of Pottsville was arraigned on drug and firearm charges by on-call District Judge David A. Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in lieu of $150,000 straight cash bail.
