– The Tamaqua Athletic Booster Club All Stars completed their most successful season by winning the first girls’ grade school basketball tournament at Marian High School.

Coach Rick Sassaman’s team defeated St. Jerome’s of Tamaqua, 28-23, in the title game behind a 13-point performance from Lynne Titus, who along with Wendy Truskey and Ann Stancavage played their final game and will be moving on to high school. During the recently-completed season, St. Jerome’s swept the PV CYO League with an unblemished record.

In the consolation game, Mahanoy City Catholic defeated St. Ann’s of Lansford by a margin of 31-21.
