Beltzville State Park announces May nature events for public

Beltzville State Park is offering the following public programs throughout May.

• Wildflower Walk and Talk, today, 1 - 3 p.m. Beltzville State Park Environmental Interpretive Center. Master Gardener Diane Giffels and State Park educator Cynthia Kurket will lead a talk about Pennsylvania's spring wildflowers, followed by a 1.5 mile wildflower walk with flower identification guides.• Bluebird Talk and Guided Walk, 1 -3 p.m., May 13, Beltzville State Park Environmental Interpretive CenterTake a 1.5 mile walk and explore Beltzville's bluebird boxes, and then enjoy an informative discussion with a bluebird cavity nesting volunteer and park educator.• Kayaking 101: Kayaking for Beginners, 4 - 7 p.m., May 16, Beltzville State Park Preacher's CampIn the first event of the summer series "Get Outdoors PA" kayaking explorations at Beltzville State Park, join the park educator and learn to paddle at Wild Creek Cove. Equipment will be provided free of charge. Space is limited, and preregistration is required. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.• Up a Creek with a Paddle, 4-7 p.m., May 24, Beltzville State Park, Preacher's CampJoin an exploration of Beltzville's Wild Creek Cove by kayak. Novice and experienced kayakers are welcome to partake in a relaxing two-and-a-half to three hour trip around the cove. Equipment will be provided free of charge. Space is limited, and preregistration is required. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. If you have your own equipment and would like to attend this event, register by phone at 610-377-0045.• Night Sky Tour: New Moon Splendor Star Gazing Series, 7:30-10 p.m., May 25, Beltzville State Park Environmental Interpretive CenterCome out for a talk about stargazing with the park educator, an astronomy enthusiast, and a conservation volunteer. Following the talk, take part in an outdoor stargazing opportunity with telescopes and binoculars. Limited equipment will be available. Please register in advance.
