A special Night of Irish Music will be presented on Oct. 18 at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.

Professional Celtic band "Blackwater" will steal the stage, but not before local favorites "Lizard Creek" prepares the audience as the opening act.Formed in 1996, "Blackwater" has been performing a high energy brand of Celtic music with a dynamic blend of traditional instrumentation, modern rhythms and a strong vocal presence. Each member of the band is an accomplished performer, but, together, they create a style that is totally original and unmistakably Celtic, with a twist.Based in the Lehigh Valley, band members hail from Bethlehem and New Jersey.Named after a river flowing through County Waterford, Ireland, the band promises listeners a night of original compositions, innovative arrangements and an all-embracing passion for fun.The band has released three albums, appeared on many compilation recording projects and performed everywhere from intimate pubs, to colleges and universities, to main festival stages. Members have a rich tradition in Celtic, folk, classical and contemporary music and successfully merges those individual influences into a unique and dynamic sound.Striking vocal harmonies, intricate fiddle styles, multi-instrumental talent, and a penchant for compelling rhythms lend the group its tradition-based sound.With over 20 years of experience, "Lizard Creek" has been performing with other professional musicians from around the globe. That makes for a vast collection of sea shanties, ballads and favorite traditional foot stompers among their play list. Performing energetic Appalachian,traditional Celtic andcontemporary tunes, their music spans the time line of the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland, early folk music of America,and contemporary Celtic music.Ticket prices will include a buffet dinner, and dessert as well as the concert.
