Hundreds protest Russian invasion

Hundreds of people gathered at the square Sunday in front of the Monroe County courthouse to protest the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A demonstration of support for the Ukrainian people will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the Courthouse Annex in Jim Thorpe (just behind Molly Maguire’s). Those who participate are asked to wear the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag, and bring posters or flags in support of Ukraine. There is to be no off-color language, as this will be a silent and respectful demonstration. Parking is available on the street. They will line up beside Route 903 from the Courthouse Annex to the post office, but will not block pedestrian or automotive traffic. Those who attend are asked to not bring bullhorns or other voice amplifiers. For more information, email Linda Christman at
