– Scrappy guard Derek Kistler becomes the unlikeliest of heroes in Palmerton’s thrilling overtime win against Panther Valley, 84-75, in the opening round of the District 11 Class 2A playoffs. After scoring only one point in regulation, Kistler tallies five points, grabs two rebounds, comes up with two steals and records an assist as Todd Gombos’ Bombers advance to the semifinals. Four Bombers finish in double digits, including Josh Smith (25), Craig Steigerwalt (17), Jason Northington (14) and Danny Wentz (14). The win overshadows a 34-point performance by Panther Brad Yuricheck.
