A garage was damaged after it caught fire this morning in Franklin Township.
Township fire Chief Lynn Diehl said the fire was reported at 7:13 a.m. at a garage at 1130 Fairyland Road.
“It was a working fire inside the garage, little flame showing,” Diehl said. “It was mostly inside at that point.”
He said they utilized the new water system that was put in to run at St. Luke’s Carbon Campus, which he added “worked out well.”
Diehl said there were no injuries, and added that while the cause of the fire is undetermined, it’s believed to be electrical in nature.
He said the garage suffered moderate damage, but that it should be salvageable.
Diehl said the fire was knocked down within a half-hour despite the ice-covered roadways.
“The weather slowed things down a little bit,” he said. “People were being cautious getting to their stations and getting their trucks to the scene.”
Diehl said the Lehighton Fire Department and Parryville Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
“Everybody worked well together, no issues,” he said. “We actually did have plenty of manpower.”
