Lots of children and their parents had a place to go at Winterfest Kids Club, taking place during Winterfest in Jim Thorpe in the Mauch Chunk Ballroom at 41 Broadway.
The Kids Club was hosted by Boy Scout Troop 138 of Jim Thorpe. Scoutmaster Lance Szoke estimated about 75 children visited on Saturday, and he expected the same for Sunday.
“Parents are welcome to get warm, the kids are welcome to play. We’ve got hot food, we’ve got drinks. There’s no time limit, feel free to stay as long as you like.”
Committee Chairperson Jennifer Evans described what children could expect.
“We have $5 admission for children, adults are free. We have activities from face painting, coloring, a photo booth, a large floor maze, movies, an indoor snowball fight, and a bounce house.”
The Scouts also offered refreshments for sale such as pulled pork sandwiches, sloppy joe sandwiches, hot dogs, chili, haluski, macaroni and cheese, and beverages, plus homemade baked goods.
All proceeds benefit the Boy Scout Troop 138 summer camp.
“Our troop was established in 2018, these boys are on their fourth year as a new troop, and they’re looking to fund another week of fun and merit badges at summer camp,” Szoke explained.
Troop 138 meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Street, Jim Thorpe.
