Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person in the sanctuary or Leah’s Room or in the parking lot by turning the radio to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Events for February:

Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise in the sanctuary or church parking lot (104.3)

Feb. 20 and 27 at 6 p.m., Youth Group “Impact” will meet.

Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. is Adult Bible Study.

ABC Food Pantry is collecting canned soup to stock the pantry. This ministry helps the local community and anyone in need. Food and money donations accepted.

Prayer Shawl Ministry makes chemo hats, lap robes and prayer shawls. Anyone who crochets is welcome to join the group each month.

Micah’s Backpack helps to feed the needy students at Palmerton School District. Please check the church website for food items they accept to fill the backpacks.

Mission of the Month: CareNet. Pick up a baby bottle in the church lobby and collect loose change. Return the baby bottle by Feb. 27. All proceeds go to this organization which helps pregnant women, and assists them with baby necessities.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. You can also remain in your vehicle and listen on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship service.

The weekly Bible verse for Feb. 20 is 1 John 4:12: If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

Sunday school is in-person each week during the 10 a.m. service.

Nursery has switched to in-person.

Movie night will be held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. “Heaven is for Real” will be shown in the church sanctuary. Free of charge, and free popcorn and drinks.

Grief and Loss Support Group

A monthly Grief and Loss Support Group will meet at Jerusalem UCC, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville on Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Directed by professional counselor, Sue Featro, this group is for people experiencing grief due to trauma, loss or death. It is an effort to assist people in the surrounding community to heal and find peace. Please contact the church office at 610-681-4412 for the link or check the invitation link on the church Facebook page. The group meets the second Wednesday and the fourth Thursday of each month.

Basket social

A basket social will be held in the St. John Neumann Regional School gymnasium, 259 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, on Feb. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. and Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For “early bird” special tickets call 610-737-0968 by Feb. 25. The kitchen will be open.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. If you plan to attend, please call the church office at 610-826-2525. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom. Communion will be held. Please remember to bring food items for the CACPAC food pantry.

Bible study is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

On Sunday at 6:30 p.m. will be a council meeting.

Channel 13, Blue Ridge Cable is Holy Trinity’s place to look for weather related announcements. A message will also be left on the phone system so if you call the office, you will know if there is church.

Palmerton Food Pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton on Feb. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and complete the paperwork for new clients.

This is a drive-thru event, so remain in your vehicle and follow directions given by the volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. A box is on the porch. Local churches also collect on a regular basis.

For the month of February, Kids for the Community is collecting personal, paper and cleaning supplies which may be dropped off at 783 Princeton Ave., Palmerton.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, and drinks.

Fighting hunger

A complimentary luncheon is being offered to those in need. The luncheon will be held at Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 26 for members of our community who could use a little help. If you know of anyone who would benefit, please share.
