Former Carbon County Commissioner Charles W. Getz has died at the age of 84.

Getz, 84 of Albrightsville, died Thursday, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Carol (Kelhart, Snyder) Getz.

They had celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 4.

A businessman and proud farmer, he owned/operated Getz Transportation/Bus Company, Albrightsville.

Charlie was an active, lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Albrightsville.

He was a member of the Carbon County Commissioners for four terms, serving as chair and vice chair of the board. He further served Carbon County as chair and vice chair of the salary board, retirement board and board of elections.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. William Thompson officiating.

Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Viewing, today, 7-9 pm at Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe with the Masonic service at 7 p.m. Masks are required.
