Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person in the sanctuary or Leah’s Room or in the parking lot by turning radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Events for February:

Feb. 16 and 23 at 7 p.m. is Prayer & Praise in the sanctuary or church parking lot (104.3)

Feb. 13, 20 and 27 at 6 p.m. Youth Group “Impact” will meet.

Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. is adult Bible study.

Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. is game night. All welcome, bring your favorite game and snack to share.

Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. is church council meeting.

Various missions:

“ABC Food Pantry” is collecting canned soup to stock the pantry. This ministry helps the local community and anyone in need of food. Food and money donations always accepted.

Prayer Shawl Ministry makes chemo hats, lap robes and prayer shawls. Anyone who crochets is welcome to join the group each month.

Micah’s Backpack helps to feed the needy students at Palmerton Area School District. Please check the church website for food items they accept to fill the backpacks.

Mission of the Month: CareNet. Pick up a baby bottle in the church lobby and collect loose change during this month. Return the baby bottle by Feb. 27. All proceeds go to this worthwhile organization that helps to educate pregnant women, assist them with baby clothing, baby furniture, diapers and formula.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. You can also remain in your vehicle and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor, Don Quayle, will lead the worship service.

The weekly Bible verse for Feb. 13 is 1 Corinthians 13:13 - “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three: but the greatest is love.”

Sunday school is in-person each week during the 10 a.m. service.

Nursery has switched to in-person.

Looking ahead the second movie night will be held on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. “Heaven is for Real” will be shown in the church sanctuary. Free of charge, and free popcorn and drinks.

Support group

A monthly Grief and Loss Support Group will meet at Jerusalem UCC, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, on Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Directed by professional counselor Sue Featro, M.E.D., E.D.D., M.S. Counseling, this group is for people experiencing grief due to trauma, loss or death. It is an effort to assist people in the surrounding community to heal and find peace.

Basket social

A basket social will be held in the St. John Neumann Regional School gymnasium, 259 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, on Feb. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. and Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For “early bird” special tickets call 610-737-0968 by Feb. 25. The kitchen will be open.

Palmerton council

A regular meeting of the Palmerton Borough Council will be held Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Library Board of Directors

The Palmerton Area Library Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 in the library. Meetings are open to the public.

Qigong Class

Qigong Class for Beginners, gentle relaxing exercises that are coordinated to soft music incorporating breathing with smooth, slow, flowing movement is held in the Palmerton Area Library on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. If you plan to attend, please call the church office at 610-826-2525. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom.

This week is the children’s service. Communion will be held. Please remember to bring food items for the CACPAC food pantry.

Bible study is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

On Feb. 13 from 6-9 p.m. come to Holy Trinity’s Super Bowl Party. Doors open at 6 p.m. Pizza and snacks will be served.
