Tamaqua woman faces conduct, trespass, strangulation charges

A Tamaqua woman is facing charges following an incident that occurred at 2:13 p.m. Jan. 28.

Borough police were dispatched to the 200 block of Hazel Street, for a report of an unwanted person.

A woman and her boyfriend said they had been assaulted by Christie L. Cymes, 28, of Brown Street, Tamaqua.The man said the two women were fighting and he tried to break them up.

Christie grabbed him by the throat and started to choke him. He broke free and ran out of the house. Officers noted that the woman had visible scratches on her neck and face and the man had visible scratches and finger prints on his throat.

Christie Cymes was taken into custody and charged with strangulation - applying pressure to the throat or neck; persistent disorderly conduct; and criminal trespass/simple trespass.

She was arraigned by District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $10,000 bail.
