The Palmerton, Northern Lehigh and Jim Thorpe girls’ basketball teams all recorded victories on Wednesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Palmerton-Pleasant Valley

Palmerton took advantage of a solid first half to pull away for a 43-23 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Bombers (18-0 overall) opened with a 14-point first quarter, and were able to hold the Bears (9-10) scoreless before taking a commanding 25-5 lead into half.

Brianna Moore had 11 points in the win while Sydney Frantz followed with nine points, and Bethie Morgan netted eight points.

Sam Merklin had 11 points for the Bears, while Drew Morgan added nine points.

Emma Niebell’s 25-point performance highlighted Northern Lehigh’s 61-37 Colonial League victory over Moravian Academy.

Niebell scored eight of her points in the second quarter for the Bulldogs (12-8 overall; 10-7) while Cadence Whalen added 13 points, and Katelyn Barthold added 12 points.

Gianna Tout-Puissant sparked the Lions (7-11; 5-11) with a team-high 14 points, while Tianna Tout-Puissant chipped in with 12 points.

Jim Thorpe-Western Wayne

Jim Thorpe turned back Western Wayne for a 45-41 non-league win.

Skyler Searfoss scored all 12 of her points in the second half for the Olympians (17-1), and went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Leah Snisky added 10 points in the win, and Olivia Smelas recorded nine points.

Kaeli Romanowski had 14 of her 22 points in the second half for the Wildcats, who led 18-17 at halftime.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Moravian-No. Lehigh

Moravian Academy rallied for a 59-57 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

The Bulldogs (3-18 overall; 2-15 CL) took a 42-33 lead into the final eight minutes before the Lions (5-13; 5-10) answered with a late charge, as the visitors posted a 26-point quarter to pull away with the win.

Christopher Ray led all scorers with 24 points for the Lions, while Abhi Patel and Gabe Borsuk contributed with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Aiden Parvel sparked the Bulldogs with a team-high 21 points, while Nick Frame chipped in with 15 points.

MORAVIAN ACADEMY

Northampton-Palmerton

Isaac Harris’ 27-point performance propelled Northampton to a 66-53 non-league victory over host Palmerton.

Down 35-22 at half, the Bombers (14-5) rebounded with a 22-point third quarter to pull within reach of the Konkrete Kids (14-5). Leading 47-44 entering the fourth, Northampton outscored Palmerton 19-9 in the fourth to pull away with the win.

The Bombers’ Brayden Hosier kept pace with Harris with a team-high 26 points, while Matt Machalik added 13 points.

Lucas Lesko added 14 points for the Konkrete Kids, while Caden Reph and Isaiah Harris finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Kayden Koerber recorded a career-high 26 points on the night for the Panthers.
