Two Tamaqua men were arrested on Monday and charged with burglary of a Mahanoy City residence.
Borough police identified the suspects as Rashawn Charles Gass, 29, and John Lewis Heemaneth III, 30.According to police, officers responded to the 800 block of E. Mahanoy Ave, for a reported break-in. On scene officers spoke to the residents.The residents identified Gass as one of the people who entered the home and took a Samsung cellphone.The residents also gave police information on a vehicle the two might be in and said Gass had been at her home on Sunday.Police then sent out an alert for the vehicle.Tamaqua police located the two men during a traffic stop. Heemaneth was the driver and Gass was a passenger. Tamaqua police detained the two until Mahanoy City police arrived. Gass had the stolen cellphone. Police searched the vehicle and found suspected marijuana.The two were charged with burglary, criminal trespass (both felonies), receiving stolen property and theft (both misdemeanors). Gass was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.The two were arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $50,000 bail.
