Marian’s polar plunge postponed due to weather

Marian Catholic has announced that the ninth annual “Be Cool for Our School” Polar Plunge at Mauch Chunk Lake has been postponed until Feb. 5.

Officials said that due to the very cold weather forecast, which includes “extremely high winds predicted,” and dangerous wind chills on Saturday, the group felt it was necessary to move the event a week.

Registration is still open for both plungers and chickens.

Registration is $35 and is open from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 5. The first plungers will hit the water at noon. Registration is not limited to plungers. Participants may register as a “Chicken” to show their support, but stay dry.

With the exception of Marian Catholic students, all plungers must be 18 or older. There is no fee for spectators.

For more info or to register, visit: www.mariancatholichs.org/post/9th-annual-mchs-polar-plunge or contact Kathy Goff at 610-704-8037 or mchspolarplunge@gmail.com.

Announcements on the plunge will also be made on Facebook: “MCHS POLAR PLUNGE.”

Last year, 66 people took the plunge, as well as 18 chickens remained dry during the eighth annual event, which raised over $6,000 for the Blue and Gold Club of Marian High School.
