State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating what troopers are calling a blackmail attempt.

Troopers said on Jan. 14 at 7 a.m. someone used a fraudulent social media account to disseminate pornographic images of a 16-year-old male from Schuylkill Haven in an attempt to blackmail his family.

The investigation is continuing.
