Galen Glen is hosting its ninth annual event benefiting the first responders of West Penn Fire Company, with a wine and mac-n-cheese event.
The West Penn Fire Company is special to Galen Glen after a devastating fire ravaged the family barn in 1966.
Galen’s father Calvin (Pappy) nearly died trying to save his cows, equipment and livelihood.
Unprepared for such a disaster, Pappy was forced to quit dairy farming and become a truck driver. But Pappy never forgot the bravery of the West Penn Fire Co as they battled the flames by his side. Thus began a tradition of supporting the Fire Co.
Today, some of Galen’s nephews proudly serve as West Penn Volunteers.
Today, Saturday and Sunday, people can order a takeout kit. The winery donates $5 from every kit to the West Penn Fire Co.
The winery has partnered with Curious Goods, a local farm-to-table restaurant in Germansville.
Mac-n-cheese flavors are Philly Cheesesteak, Farmhouse and Nacho.
See the link to order on Galen Glen’s Facebook page or contact the winery.
