State police at Bethlehem are investigating an assault and another incident that occurred at a juvenile facility in Lehigh County.
Troopers said on Tuesday at 9 p.m. they were dispatched to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, for a report about an assault victim. On scene troopers determined that the assault occurred at the KidsPeace Hospital, North Whitehall Township, earlier in the day.
Troopers said the incident was not reported by KidsPeace to police.
During the incident a 12-year-old girl was physically assaulted by about 10 other juvenile females.
The second incident occurred on Wednesday at 6:03 p.m. Troopers were dispatched to the KidsPeace facility at 5300 Kidspeace Drive, Orefield, for a report of seven juvenile residents who ran away from the facility.
On scene troopers were told that staff members were following five of the juveniles on the property. Shortly thereafter, troopers on scene found the five juveniles. At this time the two remaining juveniles were at the rear of the Clara-Barton Building on the grounds, standing on a second story balcony.
One of the juveniles jumped off the balcony in an attempt to escape the staff members, sustaining injuries as a result of a fall. The balcony is about 20 feet high. The juvenile was treated at the scene and later transported to the LVH-Cedar Crest.
Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Schnecksville Fire Company and members of the Cetronia ambulance unit.
The investigation into both incidents is continuing.
