With the snowstorm this week, Weissport Borough Council is reminding residents about the ordinance that regulates odd/even parking in the borough.
The ordinance reads in part, “On the first day when a snowfall event is forecast of 4 inches or more, the municipality may restrict parking between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. or other hours as deemed appropriate by the mayor. On the even days no motor vehicle shall be parked on the even-numbered side of the street. The following day, parking shall be prohibited on the odd-numbered side of the street.”
For the first day of a snow event on an odd day, there will be no parking on the odd-numbered side of the streets.
Vehicles not removed on designated days for snow removal as stated in the ordinance will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
Notification of snow events will be done via the Weissport Police Department Facebook page, and local print, radio or television media.
The penalties for not removing vehicles from the designated areas is $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second offense, and $100 each for the third or more offenses.
