The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has agreed to pay $155,500 to the Lehighton Water Authority under an eminent company proceeding in the Carbon County Court.

The authority was favored in this amount in a civil court verdict on April 26, representing $100,000 in damages for the loss of 59 acres of its land to the commission for the construction of a section of the Northeast Extension of the turnpike, together with detention money at a rate of 6 percent interest a year for nine years and three months.

The commission had filed an appeal of that award, contending it was excessive, but Judge Albert H. Heimbach denied that motion.
