Northwestern’s Lucas Miller captured a championship at the Catasauqua Rough Rider wrestling tournament to highlight Saturday’s action for area winter sports teams.

Rough Rider Tournament
Lucas Miller, of Northwestern captured the 172-pound championship at the Catasauqua Rough Rider Tournament.
The Tigers’ Dalton Clymer finished second in the 160-pound weight class, while Josie Wehr (120 pounds) recorded a third-place finish. Elijah Dellicker (145) and Noah Schlofer (215) both placed fifth.
For Jim Thorpe, Ridge Snyder took second place in 126-pound weight class, while Camron Tinajero (160) and Caleb McDermott (189) both had fifth place finishes.
Lehighton, No. Lehigh
at Sam Lovello Classic
Lehighton’s Lukas Ferguson had a second-place finish in the 152-pound brackett in the Sam Lovello Classic at Brandywine Heights.
The Indians’ Aidan Gruber (120-pounds) rebounded from a setback in the semis to post a 46-second pin and grab a third-place finish, while teammate Wyatt Scherer had a fifth-place finish in the 215 pounds bracket.
For Northern Lehigh, Lawson Hoffman had a sixth-place finish at 285 pounds.
Pleasant Valley at
Bethlehem Duals
Pleasant Valley posted a 2-3 record at the Battle of Bethlehem Duals.
The Bears earned wins over Southern Lehigh (42-34) and Bangor (46-24), while they dropped setbacks to Abington Heights (54-16), Faith Christian (54-24) and Neshaminy (57-18).

In the consolation game of the Hamburg Tip-Off Tournament, a big fourth quarter helped Annville-Cleona pull away with a 39-31 win over Northern Lehigh.
The Bulldogs and Dutchmen entered the final quarter tied, but the Dutchmen used a 16-point final period to come out victorious.
Izaiah Ramos led the Bulldogs (0-2) with 11 points.
Annville-Cleona’s Simon Domencic finished with a game-high 12 points.

Marian’s fourth-quarter rally fell short as Pine Grove escaped with a 47-43 win in the season opener for both programs.
With the Cardinals holding onto a 31-24 lead entering the final quarter, the Fillies rattled off their best scoring quarter of the game with 19 points, but it wasn’t enough.
Fatikha Tiktova scored eight of her Fillies’ high 14 points in the last eight minutes of play, while Kerrigan Digris recorded seven of her 11 points in the last stanza. Carly Minchoff also finished in double digits with 11 points.
The Cardinals’ Mikaili Donmoyer led all scorers with a 21-point performance.

Executive Education Academy claimed the Lady Raider Tip-Off Tournament Championship with a 50-44 victory over host Tamaqua.
Kasiah Streisel led the Blue Raiders with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Serena Jones added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and McKenna Meckes scored 12 points and added five steals.
Shaylynn Waiters led the Raptors to the tournament title with a game-high 21 points.
Tamaqua slides to 1-1 on the season, while Executive Education Academy improves to 2-0.

Weatherly made it back-to-back victories to open the season with a 49-29 nonleague win over Lehigh Valley Christian.
The Wreckers opened the game with an 18-point first quarter and gradually pulled away during the middle quarters.
Bethany Houser sparked the Wreckers with a game-high 20 points, including eight in the opening quarter. Emma Kane chipped in 12 points and Brianna Pugh added 11.
Emily Sebastian recorded a Cougars’ high 14 points.
