Palmerton Area Library to host stress relief event on Saturday

Holidays are a busy time of year for all. Want to take some time out for yourself to relax and feel your stress release?

The second annual Healing for the Holidays will be held at the Palmerton Area Library Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the upper gallery in the library.

This is event is free to the public and is on a walk-in basis with no appointments. Donations to the library will be accepted at each station.

With the calm and relaxing nature of this event, grown-ups only participation is suggested.

“We are very excited to be having another Healing for the Holidays this year. We did this in 2019 and it was very successful. We had planned to do this every year but last year with COVID we couldn’t. But we are back this year and looking forward to bringing these holistic services to the community to benefit the library,” said organizer Kiki Peppard, reflexology, Reiki practitioner/Qigong instructor.

Area practitioners in reflexology, message therapy and Reiki will be present to give the free 15-minute sessions.

Lisa Hoffman will be on hand to do mini Reiki sessions. “Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing. I volunteered to give back to the community by raising money for the library and to let people get a chance to see what Reiki can do for them,” said Hoffman.

Licensed massage therapist Shannon Ledo added, “Reading has always been a wonderful escape for me and during the holidays I think it’s wonderful to give back (to the library) and share what I love (massage therapy). So I’m excited to combine the two.”

In addition to the Healing for the Holidays, a basket raffle of over 30 items and gift cards will be on display. Tickets will be sold with all proceeds to benefit the library. Tickets for the basket raffle are already on sale at the library.

Each of the certified practitioners will have gift certificates available at their stations to purchase for yourself or as a Christmas gift.

“We’re very happy to host this event at the Palmerton Area Library. This is an excellent opportunity for people to meet local holistic practitioners and experience a treatment in an introductory way. Many people are new to energy work and body work and may be reluctant to schedule a first-time session,” said Rachel DeMicco, library programs administrator.

“In addition to the event, The Healing for the Holidays raffle proceeds benefit the library. The library is very grateful for the generosity of everyone who donated prizes and everyone who participates. We want the library to be a space where people feel welcome to learn and be comfortable having new experiences. We had so much positive feedback from the first year and are really glad to have it back again,” added DeMicco.

Come and experience for yourself the healing energy and soothing messages that will relax your mind, body and soul. The Palmerton Area Library is located at 402 Delaware Ave.
