Weatherly Area Community Library

The board of directors of the Weatherly Area Community Library, 1518 Brenkman Drive, Weatherly, is working hard to complete the building that was purchased from the Carbon County Economic Development Corp. a few years ago.

It is being used by young and old. We are especially proud to have this Library for our students since our Weatherly schools no longer have a library.

Our next step is to move forward to write a grant to complete a room for “computer and research,” but we also have a small area that we have set aside for a small kitchenette for when we have activities for the children and meetings. Outside organizations also utilize our facility for meetings throughout the year.

Our wish list: New refrigerator, microwave, stove.

Any of these items would be most appreciated since our dollars are all fully raised through fundraisers.

Dorothy Day House

The Carbon County Dorothy Day House in Lansford is helping needy families in Carbon County during Christmas for the third year.

The organization is giving away Christmas presents, Christmas trees and decorations and food this year, but it needs the community’s help to accomplish its goal.

The group is in need of new toys, games and clothing for children ages newborn to 18; as well as Christmas trees and decorations.

In addition, the Carbon County Dorothy Day House is in need of diapers; space heaters; new blankets; new mattresses; toys for children of all ages; coats for children of all sizes; gift cards to grocery stores; and gift cards for gas for our pantry drivers

Carbon Environmental Education Center

Since 1983, Carbon County Environmental Education Center in Summit Hill has grown into a premier outdoor and wildlife educational facility.

Housed in a converted 1920 dairy barn, the center is located on 70 acres of woodland, wetland, and meadow within Mauch Chunk Lake Park. The mission is: Conservation Through Education.

Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow

Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow is a local nonprofit in memory of our teenage sons, who both fought short, courageous battles with cancer.

We provide financial and spiritual support as well as gifts to any siblings, to families who are experiencing a serious illness of a child or loss of a child. We are always looking for various types of gift cards to share with the families and we do provide financial support as well, so we do accept monetary donations.
