St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten to hold health fair

The community is invited to enjoy healthy activities and to see the improvements to the St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten Campus during the health system’s inaugural St. Luke’s Health Fair and Community Day.

The event will be held at the Lehighton located campus at 211 N. 12th St. from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.

“There has been such a huge transformation at this campus since the joining of St. Luke’s University Health Network and Blue Mountain Health System was announced in September 2017,” says Joseph Pinto, Carbon Region COO. “We’re excited to show it off and for the public to come see what we’ve done in such a short period of time.

“Anyone who is curious about what’s happening in health care in their backyard should come and find out. They will be impressed.”

Renovations include new floors, lights, painting and the addition of technology.

“We’ve also brought in new primary care doctors and specialists,” Pinto said.

John Nespoli, president of the St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten/Palmerton campuses, said in keeping with the theme that “Better Health Care is Here!” the day’s activities will include information on the many services offered by the health system, blood pressure screenings, bone density scans and other health screenings.

Activities for kids include a bounce house, firetruck tours and crafts. Free healthy refreshments will also be served.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to St. Luke’s InfoLink at 1-866-STLUKES (785-8537) Option 4.

Pinto said he’s hoping the event will become an annual event and something that residents of the area will look forward to. Eventually, he said, the event will move location to the new campus St. Luke’s is building in Franklin Township.
