Results of contested Tamaqua region races

It was a long day for Schuylkill County officials and hopefuls.

After 100% of the precincts were reported late Tuesday night, here are results from notable contested races.

Tamaqua Borough

Three four-year Tamaqua borough council seats were on the line during Tuesday’s election.

Mary Linkevich (686 votes), Kathy Kunkel (666) and Richie Linkhorst (603) have won those three seats.

Council President David E. Mace received 410 votes. There were 17 write-in votes.

In another two-year council person race, Jay A. Hollenbach, Jr. (642 votes) edged Kathy Kunkel, who received 355 votes.

West Penn Twp.

Jeff Bradford tallied 828 votes to defeat Clifford G. Mongrain for the six-year constable position.

Other choices

Voters chose Christina E. Hale (20,723 votes) and Chris Hobbs (19,768) for judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

Joseph G. Groody won sheriff with 18,358 votes over Douglas Litwhiler, who received 12,657 votes.

Results are unofficial and mail-in ballots have not been counted.
