State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a theft/crime by deception incident in which someone tried to pass a fake $100 bill at a store in Chestnuthill Township.

The incident happened at 7:06 p.m. Sept. 29.

Police said they were called to Shoprite at 107 Kinsley Drive for a reported theft. A woman came to the store and attempted to pay her grocery bill with the fake money.
