March 21, 1997 — Lehighton’s softball team scores in every inning to open its season with a 14-1 victory over Tamaqua. Jocelyn Kirsch allows just one run over five innings to gain the pitching win. Kirsch, who strikes out two, also has a big day at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. The Indians, coached by Sharon Elder, receive four hits and four RBIs from both Tanya Beers and Lisa Semanoff. Nicole Green also chips in by driving in a pair of runs.
