Towamensing crew installs hydrant in Beltzville Lake

At its Dec. 30 end-of-the-year meeting Towamensing Township set a tax rate of 2 mills, the same as last year for the $959,605 budget.

There are also a real estate transfer tax of one-half of 1 percent; earned income tax of one-half of 1 percent; a local services tax of $10 and a per capita tax of $5.Garbage fees also remain the same at $105 for 100 percent disabled veterans and active duty military as well as single senior citizens; $125 for senior citizen couples; and $190 for a family.Supervisors announced a dry hydrant has been installed near the Pine Run boat ramp in Beltzville Lake to provide water for the north side of the lake.Supervisor Tom Newman got the permits from the Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers and the road crew did the installation.
