October 2, 1959 - John Cole scores two touchdowns and Slatington’s defense shuts down a late scoring threat to preserve a 13-12 Lehigh Valley League victory over Lehighton. The Slaters get on the board first when quarterback Bob Mengel connects with Cole on a 60-yard scoring pass. Follwing a Dale Reppert 24-yard tally for the Indians that ties the game, Slatington regains the lead when Cole reaches the end zone on a 3-yard run. The tally is set up by Ron Hughes’ fumble recovery. Lehighton pulls within one, and later drives inside the 10, but Slatington’s defense stiffens to maintain the advantage.
