Shoe box distribution

Rick Reich, an elder at Salem Bible Fellowship Church in Lehighton, unpacks a box of toys and school supplies before closing it back to send to a child in need. Reich’s church served as the Carbon County drop-off location for this year’s “Operation Christmas Child” collections, which began Nov. 18. Organized by Samaritan’s Purse, the undertaking instructs churches across the nation to fill shoe boxes with gifts for children in war-torn countries throughout the world. The church, located at 1105 Fredericks Grove Road in Lehighton, will continue to collect boxes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, noon to 2 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to noon Monday.
