A Schuylkill County motorcyclist died and his passenger was seriously injured in a crash late Monday night in Berks County.

State police at Reading identified the victim as Daniel Joseph Leffew, 44, of Minersville. His passenger, Tracy Carter, 31, also of Minersville, was seriously injured.Troopers said the accident occurred about 11:56 p.m. along Bernville Road (Route 183), in Jefferson Township.Leffew was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson XL200C Sport bike northbound when he crossed the double yellow line into the southbound lane. The bike traveled across the southbound lane and onto the berm where it went over an embankment.The bike then traveled through trees and brush before coming to rest at 7326 Bernville Road.Leffew was pronounced dead at the scene. Carter was flown to the Reading Hospital and admitted in serious condition.The investigation into the crash is continuing.
