Flash flood watch: 2-3 inches of rain possible Thursday
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the region from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead of and with the passage of a cold front Thursday afternoon through late Thursday night. Rain will be heavy at times. Widespread rainfall totals will range from 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts.
Flash flooding is possible during this time.

Today: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 76. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 65. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Showers likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 73. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 55. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Friday: Showers likely, mainly before 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 70. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
