State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a theft incident with $70,000 worth of checks being intercepted and altered.

The incident was reported to police at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10.

The victims are the Auburn Fire Company, Auburn Ambulance and Reynmil Inc. of Wayne Township.

Police said two checks in the amounts of $20,000 each made out to Reynmil and two checks in the amounts of $15,000, including one to the fire company and one to the ambulance corps, were intercepted and altered.
