Train enthusiasts got a special treat this past weekend when Reading and Northern Railroad's steam locomotive 425 stopped in Nesquehoning to be refilled before heading back to Jim Thorpe to pick up its passengers for its return trip to Duryea. Nesquehoning Hose Company No. 1 refilled the Baldwin Built Light Pacific engine outside Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp. The 425 was built in 1928 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad. After its retirement from the railroad in 1950, it was sold and used on the Louisiana Eastern Railroad, Valley Forge ScenicRailroad and Wilmington & Western Railroad before being acquired by Reading and Northern in 1983.
