Bowmanstown Borough Council
Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action on Tuesday:
• Approved a resolution authorizing submittal of Local Share Assessment fund for the Water Authority and letter of support to purchase a generator.
• Announced that notice of award and notice to proceed letters were issued to Lehigh Asphalt for the Craig Street Project, and that it was coordinated with the Water Authority solicitor to obtain the hold harmless agreement for the contractor to sign for use of the Water Authority property for lay down.
• Agreed to purchase a 150-gallon utility tank with a nozzle.
• Announced that the street committee will go around town to determine which streets they will be tarring and chipping.
• Announced that the illegal dumping issue that was taking place behind the borough post office has been addressed, and that evidence was referred to Pennsylvania State police for charges to be filed.
• Announced that charges against a property owner on Ore Street have been withdrawn as citations have been satisfied.
• Announced that concerning the storage of junk vehicles on the east side of Railroad Street, letters will are going out to homeowners regarding removal of vehicles.
• Announced that vandalism charges remain for previously reported incidents, as the party did not complete community service hours.
• Proclaimed Aug. 21, 2021, as Butch & Louise Everett Day in recognition of their 50th wedding anniversary.
• Announced that Dave Horst will provide training to the borough crew on Friday for the MS4.
• Granted permission for Lehigh Asphalt to deliver millings for the Craig Street project to be placed at the end of Pine Street by Green Street.
• Accepted the resignation of Chad Everett from the borough’s zoning hearing board, and said anyone who would like to fill the vacancy may submit their letter of interest to the borough office.
• Granted permission to wastewater treatment plant operator Chris Bixler to attend the Reducing Unaccounted for Water Training on Sept. 29, at a cost of $105.
• Agreed to have council President William Ravert sign the acceptance letter for the borough’s 2020 draft audit.
• Agreed to set public meetings for the 2022 budget at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday in September, October and November.
• Announced that B.A.R.C. will hold its annual Dog Show on Oct. 2. The event begins with a walk on the D&L Trail for anyone interested. Sign up is at the Oliver Solt Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
